Why This Matters 

Members of the Gwich’in Steering Committee will travel to Portland to share why the Refuge’s Coastal Plain — the Sacred Place Where Life Begins — must be protected. As oil companies consider whether to bid in the upcoming lease sale, public opposition matters, and we want to show up in force to:

• Stand in solidarity with the Gwich’in and Iñupiat land protectors
• Make our voices heard as oil companies consider bidding on leases
• Send a clear message: No drilling in the Arctic Refuge. Stay away from sacred land.

What to Expect 

• Remarks from Gwich’in leaders
• Opportunity for brief community testimony
• Testimony will be transcribed and shared with oil companies ahead of the lease sale
• You do not need to testify to attend — showing up matters.
