2026 Tribal Youth Water Summit & Journeys in Creativity Pre-College Residency

August 10-13, 2026

Olympia, Washington

The Evergreen State College & Virtual

The 2026 Changing Currents Tribal Youth Water Summit & Journeys in Creativity Pre-College Residency will take place at The Evergreen State College from August 10-13, 2026. This event will empower Indigenous youth by providing them with leadership development tools and opportunities to amplify their voices on tribal water issues. By fostering creativity and leadership, this youth event will support the next generation of Indigenous leaders in advocating for the health and sustainability of their communities’ water resources.

The Changing Currents’ Annual Youth Tribal Water Summit is a
leadership-development and education program designed for students ages 16-19 years of age in high school or early-college.

The Summit is an opportunity for emerging leaders to understand the importance of our water resources and the nature of their stewardship and care for our natural resources. The Summit curriculum aims to educate youth leaders about water resources, hydrology, conservation, and related career paths, often incorporating cultural perspectives and traditional knowledge. The Summit is a part of our larger initiative focused on tribal community resilience, environmental stewardship, and leadership development.

Summit Participants will build a peer-to-peer network with other like-minded youth, learn from Indigenous environmental professionals, hear from Indigenous leaders, and get exposure to university classes.
